Scholarships & Bursaries

“My good fortune in receiving financial support in order to attend the Picton Castles Bosun School program enabled me to do what I otherwise could not have done. I hope that future students are provided with the financial support that allows them to have the freedom to grow and learn as students.” -A Featherstone

Financial Assistance for Picton Castle’s upcoming World Voyage

In partnership with Picton Castle, the Nova Scotia Seamanship Education Society is excited to announce that partial Scholarships are now available for Picton Castle’s upcoming World Voyage.

Scholarships may be awarded to individuals who meet the following criteria:

  • A demonstrable interest in a future or continuing maritime career, especially in industries related to traditional seafaring and seamanship.
  • A strong desire to take part in the training program with clear knowledge of what the program entails, what they hope to achieve and how the program will assist their future career goals.
  • A good fit for the desired sail training program (successful scholarship applicants first have to be successful in Picton Castle’s selection process).
  • Between ages 18-35, of any nationality.
  • Financial Need. The scholarship is designed to make this training accessible to the people who would most benefit from it and who would not otherwise have the means to participate without.

Applicants should first apply directly with the Picton Castle. The World Voyage application form can be found here.

For more information, please call +1 902 634 9984 or email info@picton-castle.com.

Once accepted on the World Voyage, applications will be considered for financial assistance from the Nova Scotia Seamanship Education Society. For more information and/or to apply, please email info@seamanship.ca.

The deadline for the application for Financial aid was December 1st, 2020.
